Amanda Travers

Parent Group Facilitator, Northern Minnesota

Amanda grew up in a rural community in central Minnesota as the youngest of 4 children with two older brothers and one older sister.  Her oldest brother, David, was born with Downs Syndrome. She has a lot of stories she could tell you about growing up with a brother with some extra needs. Little did she know that her big brother was preparing her for where her life would lead her.

Amanda now lives with her husband, Eric, and three young children, Corinne, Levi and Margie on 25 acres in the beautiful Brainerd Lakes area. Amanda’s oldest daughter is 4 years old. After seeing many specialists since birth including but not limited to, Genetics, Urology, Gastrointestinal, Orthopedics, Neurology, PM&R, Ophthalmology, Orthodontic surgeons, Complex care doctors along with Speech, Occupational and Physical therapies, they are still unable to get a diagnosis for her, other than “Global developmental delay and hypotonia”.

Seeing all the struggles her daughter has had to endure in her short life so far Amanda has become fiercely passionate about advocating for her daughter. Amanda is excited to help others to do the same for their families.
